Bright Beginnings Pre School is pleased to announce the:
KATHY R. SHUPE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Bright Beginnings Preschool at Forest Lakes has long been a leader locally in providing an excellent early childhood program. Many wonderful professional teachers and teaching assistants have contributed to influencing the lives of over 2,500 students since it opened in 1989. In honor of long time Bright Beginnings Administrator, Kathy R. Shupe, who presently teaches in Albemarle County, Bright Beginnings is please to offer the equivalent of one year full time pre school/child care tuition for one or more children living in the Hollymead, Baker Butler, Broadus Wood or Greene County school districts. Announced at the Annual Family Picnic in June 2007, this scholarship has already been partially utilized by two students. We seek to offer one additional student to complete this years’ community donation. SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES: Eligible: Preschool student, boy or girl, who will be five on or before September 30, 2008 and is intending to attend either Hollymead, Broadus Wood, Baker Butler, Ruckersville or Greene County Primary Elementary schools for kindergarten in the fall, 2008. Student has a financial need that prohibits affording private pre school and does not qualify for Head Start, Bright Stars or social services funding. In other words, we seek a family that “falls between the cracks” and that would otherwise not be able to send their child to preschool. Nominations: CONFIDENTIAL nominations may be made by area elementary principals, the Department or Social Services (Albemarle or Greene Counties) or interested families. A short application form will be submitted by the nominating party and the interested child and family will be invited to tour the facility to ensure the school and family is an appropriate match. Availability: Three days all- inclusive full time pre school and child care. For More Information or to obtain a nomination form: P. J. Gilbert, Program Director Forest Lakes 434-973-8414.
Bright Beginnings Preschool prides itself on its fantastic connection with the Charlottesville-area community. Here are some of our most-recent community projects:
The Bunny Table at the Fashion Square Mall Each year Bright Beginnings hosts the Bunny Table at the Fashion Square Mall. We do fun craft projects with the children while they wait to have their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny.
St. Jude's Research Hospital Trike-A-Thon Bright Beginnings supports St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital by raising money each year from families sponsoring children in the Trike-A-Thon.
Discovery Dash Bright Beginnings Preschool shows their support to the Virginia Discovery Museum by sponsoring and volunteering at the Discovery Dash. We love cheering on the racers and helping a wonderful museum at the same time.
