A pilot program is being introduced in the Rooster room called “Passport to Crozet.” So many times children learn about other places, but often times they do not have a full appreciation for what is in their own backyard. Our Pre-K children will be going to [places in Crozet, to learn more out the area in which they live. Some examples are the Library, the fire department, and the post office. Not only will we be learning about our town, we will also be working on positive behavior, manners in public.
The group also spoke about diversity amongst our families and ways that they can share their cultures in their child’s class. Family trees were discussed as a way to support them in this process. We have a Mom from Transylvania- how cool is that?
A school directory was suggested as a great resource to offer to parents for birthday invitations or just to plan a ply date with your child’s friends. The teachers have sign-ups if you would like your name included.
In the Rooster room it is all about our five senses. We are exploring through smell, taste, and touch.
Just a reminder – Let’s make sure that Charlottesville knows how great our school is! Please remember to vote for us at www.albemarlefamily.com.
It’s time to get our flu shots!

Pelicans
Hello Pelican families. We are having a great time singing the ABC song smiling and laughing while Keaton and Courtney clap their hands. Finn and Sage are moving all over the place. Sage is actually pulling up on her knees. Adele loves to pull everything off the shelves and crawl over top of it. Finn enjoys playing Peek-a-boo with his blanket. They love listening to the noises the toys make when they shake them. The quacking sound the ducks make is a lot of fun for them as well. They love rolling the blocks and crawling to get them. Just keeping everyone happy is reward enough. Ms. Sue
Kangaroos
This week has been all about body parts. We also worked on our friendships, their names, what makes our friends happy and sad, and the things we like to do with our friends. The group has also been working on letter books. The children really loved the letter “I” book. It talks about ice cream, how incredible the children are, and our imaginations. We have been enjoying the easel, painting with all different colors. We had a great time dancing to “The Wiggles”, marching to the music, and free dancing with our new friend Zachary. Ms. Jen
Peacocks
Hello Peacock Parents,
This week in the Peacock class we focused on the number 2 and the number 3.The number 2 was the most popular as we all know we are all 2 year olds! We had fun stamping the number 2 with a texture stamp and paint. We also made a number 2 collage and colored and free painted with easel art. This week we have also been practicing our ABC’s with our flashcards in class. We are still working on the letter each of our names starts with and the sounds that they make. As always, please feel free to see me with any questions.
Ms. Lee
Bunnies
Hello Bunny family and friends! In math, we have been working very hard on our calendar skills. We have been practicing the days of the week and learning the months of the year. In Science, we have been discussing the color green and the square shape. We practiced painting the letters of our name with green. Our” Square Hunt “was really fun locating the shape on the playground and in our class. For Social Awareness, we continued to discuss body parts and movement. Friendship was a focus as we tried to do something nice for our friends each day. During Language Arts, we discovered the letter Xx. We practicing writing the letter and learned words that start with the letter Xx. We also enjoyed the rhyming word game. For practice at home, have the children sing the days of the week and play the rhyming word game. Have a great weekend! Ms. Whitney
Octopus
Hello Octopus families,
We had fun filled week learning about everyone’s families. We talked about who had brothers and sisters and Moms and Dads. We also talked about the different names our grandparents have. We drew pictures of our parents and of a friend in the class. We created the number 3 with stampers and practiced counting to 3. We went on a couple of nature walks, one to visit the cows and one to pick up leaves to make rubbings. We also talked about our feelings this week. We made happy faces and sad faces. The kids had fun painting cow faces and with sponges. I introduced a lot of new songs to the class this week, like “The Wheels on the Bus,””Five Litter Monkeys,” and “Open Shut Them” but their favorite is still ”I’m a little Teapot.”Can’t wait to see you all next week for more fun! Miss Katie
Rooster
Hello Rooster Family and Friends, I would like to start off by welcoming Emily into our classroom. She came from the bunny class and is very excited to experience new learning and new toys. This week was all about the number 3 and the letter xx. Feel free to check out our 3’s made out of yarn by our playground door. In social awareness, we discussed how the classroom is like a family we belong to. We also talked about how we belong in Crozet which is our community. We have also been learning how to act in the classroom by discussing rules and practicing our fire drill. By experiencing different materials like kool-aid, water, and unique textures through our senses, we learn physical properties of objects around us. In order to better understand the frequent sound the letter X makes in word sand recognize the letter X, we made a lot of things to do with X. Our planet X’s are displayed in the hallway, along with our X books and x’s made with beans! The students are loving easel art in the afternoons. We have painted with the color green, painted the number 3 and the letter X and finger painted with pudding. This allows the children to experience new art forms while enjoying sensory experiences and working on letters and numbers. In children’s humanities we continued with music. The children made rain sticks and sang songs. Opening the children up to different instruments and music allows them to become more aware of their surroundings and experience things from other cultures. We ended the week with a bang as we made trail mix and created a birthday graph for the class. Next week we will work with more sensory items and finish up September by celebrating the start of fall. Have a great weekend! Ms. Chelsea
