Class Notes:

The Pelican Class

We started the week off with a lot of friends coming back from vacation and some going off to have fun with their families. To have more fun we played with animals in the backyard making several sounds like a cow, horse, chicken, pigs, and all of the others too. We read Baby Animal Book and Baby Zebra so we could learn all about how a baby animal is born and how it’s mother takes care of the baby animal, all about how he or she can tell who his or her mama is by her zebra stripes. We have been looking at pictures of mommies, daddies, boys, and girls and reading the name out to them. Silly songs like 10 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed always makes them laugh and so does splashing their feet in the water to cool them off. Finn and Sage love lying on the floor together while hitting their feet together, smiling at each other and playing peek-a-boo. Exercising on the floor rolling back and forth, lifting and their legs up is also one of their favorite things to do.
We hope everyone has a great 4th of July! Be safe! See you on Tuesday, the 6th of July.
-Ms. Sue

The Kangaroo Class

This week in gross motor we danced to pow-wow music with drums and tambourines, we ran in a circle as a group, and jumped high and low.  We pretended to be shakers and were shaking all around the room. We set up a tent and had red blocks as our fire. We danced and played drums at our own powwow.
In fine motor, art, and sensory we made powwow hats with strips of brown paper and colorful feathers. We made noise maker with plastic bottles. We painted on our easel our side with water and finger painted with read, white, and blue, paint. In sensory we enjoyed playing with colored noodles, water, and our smell bottles. We enjoyed hiding a toy under the blanket and guessing what it is. We also really liked blowing bubbles and catching them before they hit the ground. We had so much fun this week. Have a fun and safe holiday weekend! See you Tuesday.
-Ms. Jen

The Peacock Class

Hello Peacock families and friends, this week in class we have had lots of fun learning about animals; animals that live on the farm, in the ocean, at the zoo, in the jungle, and in the desert. Lots and lots of animals! We practiced singing Old McDonald had a Farm and other animal songs. Some of the groups’ favorites were 5 Speckled Frogs, Baby Bumble Bee, and Brown Bear! We were able to read all sorts of animal books during our circle time, as well as talking about animals that we have seen in person or in books. We also had fun pretending to be different animals like dogs, cats, fish, birds, and many more. We are continuing to have fun in the sprinklers and we invite you to come and have a fun water day with us when you have some time off. We go out to the water park between the times of 10:15-10:45. We’d love for you to come!
Happy Summer Time!!
-Ms. Lee

The Bunny Class

Hello Bunny Class Families! What a great week in the Bunny Class. We have been working really hard on our letter recognition skills. We practice with flashcards, the magnets on the doors and other things around the room. The Bunnies do a great job finding their “special letters” throughout the class room. We’ve also started to practice to write the fist letters of our name. Emily did a wonderful job writing an “A” for Addie! She was so excited that she made an “A”. For math we’ve been working on counting in English and Spanish and number recognition. This week we talked about the 4th of July and what that day means. Elisabeth was very excited to tell us that it is America’s Birthday! We really enjoyed talking about fire works! Don’t forget we are going on a field trip Tuesday, July 6th, and we are closed on July 5th. Please be sure to sign up!
Hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend!
-Ms. Whitney

The Walrus Class

This week, the Walrus Class worked with animals in our “animal planet” theme. We learned about the zoo and the rain forest. We made our own patterns on colorful zebras and made tree frogs totally out of hearts! We even had a cooking project where we made “frogs on a log” using celery and peanut butter as the log and raisins as the frogs. It was fun to make, as well as delicious and nutritious! The highlight of our week was playing a game called “Going on a Jaguar Hunt” where we pretended to explore the jungle in search of jaguars. The children really enjoyed pretending to find a jaguar in a cave and running back to the explorer jeep for safety!
A few reminders: bike day is every Tuesday and sprinkler day is everyday! Remember a swim suit and towel. Also, please put sunscreen on your child in the morning before coming to school. The sun is so strong this time of year and we don’t want any burns!

School News and Notes:
We have had another wonderful week filled with fun! The children from our Forest Lakes Location came over on Friday and used our water park! They had a blast! Instead of Sprinkler Day on Friday, we had a field day! We played with water balloons, soccer balls, bubbles and so much more! We had a blast!! Thank you to all the parents who brought in special Popsicle treats! The children love them on these hot summer days!

Summer is a fun time to try new things! Here are some recipes that you can try with your child at home!

No-Cook Play Dough:
1 cup white flour
½ cup salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon alum
food coloring
½ cup water

Mix first four ingredients. Add food coloring to the water. Gradually add small amounts of water until mixture attains the consistency of bread dough. You may not use the entire ½ cup of water. You can make colors not commercially available, such as purple, by creatively mixing colors. Store in an airtight container or a plastic bag. It lasts a long time. (If you can’t find alum at the grocery store, look in the drugstore.)

Don’t forget about Bright Beginnings going GREEN!! We have just begun our recycling unit! We have tubs set up for paper and for plastic. Our children will be encouraged to recycle during the day- at snack, lunch, and after art projects! They are doing a great job recycling!

We are fortunate to have time disposal pick up our trash. They have Van Der Linde Recycling go through their trash and recycle what they can.  We help them by sorting it for them and teach your children the importance of recycling!

We also are slowly changing our menu to be more organic. Check out our new menu, as it is displayed on our front bulletin board.

Class Notes:

The Pelican Class

The week started off with a lot of smiling faces. We enjoyed tickling the little babies all over to make them laugh. We sang a song “where are the babies”. The older ones would say Sage and Finn’s name. We made sounds like baa, ma and moo. They all watched and smiled. They enjoyed reaching for toy animals and trying to touch them. Rolling to music and tummy time wasn’t their favorite but shaking a rattle helped out. Have a great weekend.
-Ms. Sue

The Kangaroo Class

This week in gross motor/movement, we danced to music with scarves. We played in the ball pit. In the gross motor room, we enjoyed doing flips on the mat and crawling thru the tent. In fine motor, art and sensory, we made birthday cakes with playdough, played with small puzzles and made fireworks with a nice clean toilet brush. For sensory, we played fill and spill in the sandbox. We sorted color noodles. In practical living, we had a birthday party for our baby dolls and built them a house, too. We continue to work on our sign language. Have a great weekend.
-Ms. Jen

The Peacock Class
Hello Peacock families and friends! This week our class had fun learning about and playing sports. We learned about several different types of sports, for example, football, soccer, basketball and baseball. During outside time, we were able to play kickball games. This week we also practiced our letters of the alphabet as well as our shapes. We are still working very hard on using our words instead of actions in our class. Thus far I have seen improvement, hopefully with working on it at school and working on it at home, we will be well on our way to using our words. We are having a great time being able to play in our water park. Congratulations to Willa for over coming her fear of the sprinkler! If you have not yet signed a sunscreen permission form, please do so in order for me to apply sunscreen in the afternoon. As always, if you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to stop by! Hope everyone had a great Father’s Day!
-Ms. Lee

The Bunny Class

Hello Bunny families! What a great week we’ve had officially welcoming summer! We’ve enjoyed being outside soaking up the warm weather. The Bunnies helped Bright Beginnings plant a jam garden. We planted strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. We’ve been helping to take care of our pizza garden by making sure it has plenty of water. For math this week, we did a lot of practicing with our counting. We are working really hard on counting to ten in English and we’ve done a great job counting in Spanish. During science time, we had so much fun conducting color experiments. Each day we would pick two different colors. We would guess what we thought it might turn into, mix the colors and watch. It was a lot of fun guessing and seeing who was right. For language arts this week, we continued to study birds. We read all about different types of stories that helped us discover what birds eat, where they live and so forth.  Lastly, for Children’s Humanities we wrapped up our unit on nursery rhymes. Studying these nursery rhymes has helped the Bunnies have great ears for rhyming words!

Reminders: Sprinkler Day is everyday, so please have your child dressed in bathing suit with sunscreen on! Bike Day is every Tuesday! Have a great weekend!
-Ms. Whitney

They were really good at this. We have talked about, read books about and discussed different sounds that birds make. We plan on making some bird feeders out of pinecones and hanging them on the tree near the playground. The Walrus class has also enjoyed milder temperatures this week while playing outside.

The Rooster Class

In language arts, we introduced a new letter of the week “Y”. We brainstormed words that begin with “Y”. We practiced writing “Y” in our journals. We reviewed our sight words by playing hangman. The children really enjoyed this game. For math, we graphed our favorite bird. The class thought of many different types. We continue to work with coins. The Roosters have fun playing shop, a great way for the children to learn the value of each coin. They are doing a great job. The Roosters are still working on telling time. We played a game of “what time is it?” In social studies/awareness this week, we discussed different types of birds. We voted on our favorite one. We enjoyed a game of duck, duck goose and the friendship circle. During the game we talked about what it means to be a good friend. For art, our class made memory roosters. Each child signed one an others rooster, a little something to remember our time together. We celebrated Dad’s this week by making Father’s Day cards and a special gift. Thank you for attending the Pre-K graduation on Wednesday. Most of all, thank you for sharing your children with us each day! We have enjoyed our time together. Have a wonderful weekend.
