Safety of our children is the top priority at Bright Beginnings. We wanted to share with our families the many ways that we ensure that quality staff and a secure safe environment are maintained. First we do extensive criminal background checks to verify the absence of barrier crimes that would bar and individual from working with children. These checks are required to be repeated periodically by the state to guarantee that the most accurate information is maintained. We have security lock systems at all three schools and maintain front desk coverage. The doorbells help communicate when guests have entered the building when the desk staff is not immediately present. The sex offender website at sexoffender.gov is checked twice a year to stay informed of the communities where the schools are located. Communication with the parents and within the community helps the organization stay abreast of any challenges being face within the neighborhoods or the communities to which we provide care.
School pictures for the Crozet location are scheduled for October 7th and 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. On Thursday, the Pelican, Kangaroo, and Peacock classes will be photographed and on Friday the Octopus, Bunny, and Rooster classes will be photographed. Individual as well as class pictures will be taken. Proof will be provided so families may make package selections. If your child will be absent the day they are scheduled to be photographed, please let us know. We can still take your child’s photo if they are present the other day.
Thanks to all the parents who supported our book fair. It was a great success. The books that were earned are displayed on the front bench so all can see the quality literature we were fortunate enough to purchase.
Just a reminder – Let’s make sure that Charlottesville knows how great our school is! Please remember to vote for us at www.albemarlefamily.com.
It’s time to get our flu shots!

Pelican
Hello Pelican families. This week we loved singing songs about rain. We sung “rain, rain, go away” but we changed the words to “rain, rain, stay all day”. We enjoyed looking out the windows and watching the rain puddle up on the playground. We had a lot of fun painting the letter Xx this week during art. We enjoyed reading a lot of books this week like Wheels on the Bus, On the Track, and Opposites book. Everyone on in the Pelican classroom is on the move. Keaton is standing up and walking around, Sage, Finn, and Adele are all trying really hard to crawl, and baby Finn loves to have tummy time on the floor to reach for toys. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Ms. Sue
Kangaroo
Hello Kangaroo families,
This week we have been working on observing nature from inside our classroom and outside by exploring the leaves starting to change. We have been practicing really hard on learning to share with our friends this week. We’ve also been working on using our words to tell our friends what makes us happy or sad. We have really enjoyed painting this week and mixing two colors to make a new color. Don’t forget school pictures are next week on Oct. 7th! Have a great weekend!

Peacock
Hello Peacock Parents,
As the month of September is almost over we have finished up exploring about the number 2 and 3 and the letter Ww and Xx. We have also discovered squares and the color green. This week we had fun making a square collage as well as making a green very hungry caterpillar. We also have been practicing our counting skills this week by using blocks. We counted, sorted and stacked our blocks! We also have been focusing on friendship this week by talking about how friends treat each other and using our words instead of our hands to say things we want our friends to know. Thank you to all who brought in your family portraits! The Peacocks really enjoyed looking at them throughout the say and saying “that’s my mommy and that’s my daddy.”
As always, please feel free to see me with any questions. Have a great weekend!

Bunnies
Hello Bunny family and friends! Welcome Fall! The Bunnies have been noticing the changes of Summer leaving and Fall coming in. We’ve started looking at the trees and noticing that some of the leaves are already starting to change colors and falling! In math this week we practiced recognizing numbers 2 and 3 and even practiced writing them. We also practiced grouping things in twos and threes. For science this week we discovered the plant growing process. We discovered that plants need water and sunlight to grow. We put this into practice by exploring our pizza garden and watering it to help it grow! During social awareness we reviewed our 5 senses. We really enjoyed using the scent bottles to explore smell, and playing music to explore hearing. For language arts this week we continued working on recognizing and writing the letter Xx. We even explored words that have the letter Xx in them. We also continued our practice with rhyming words. If you ever have any questions or concerns please always feel free to stop by the Bunny room! Have a great weekend!

Octopus
Hello Octopus families,
It was our last musical week, we reviewed “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” and “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” and we started “Old McDonald”. The children also got to make music shakers again, which they really enjoy! We all had fun with our friends this week. Everyone got to paint a picture of one of their friends and we even made friendship bracelets for our friends. The children had a lot of fun playing with our new dress up we got last week! Thank you so much for bringing in supplies to make our homemade playdough, we had so much fun making it! We also made baked apples with cinnamon that were so yummy!! Don’t forget school pictures are next week Oct. 8th! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Miss Katie
Rooster
Hello Rooster Family and Friends,
We started off the week celebrating a birthday, which was very exciting for all of us! Happy birthday Ryan! We also continued work with the number 3 by writing it and making groups of 3 with objects around the room. In science we experienced more sensory play by painting with shaving cream and cotton balls sensory experiences really allow your child to work with new and exciting things they learn how to describe things by physical properties and by what they hear, feel, smell, or taste! Students learned how humans and animals can be similar in many ways, while we focused on how they both like to eat food. They drew pictures of their favorite food. During language arts we continued to talk about the letter Xx by making a X with ribbon, making a box for the X sound, and practicing writing X. the students really enjoyed playing games with our alphabet cookies! In social awareness we continued to learn about how we belong to a group. By drawing family portraits we learned how we belong to our families. Everybody did very well with this! To learn how and where we belong in the classroom, we made a school of fish and friendship shapes. Check them out around the classroom and in the hallway! In art we did a lot of painting through different mediums like sponges, fingers, and paintbrushes. . During children’s humanities we focused on music while we made music with our bodies and we talked about different instruments. The students enjoyed starting off the week with Ms. Melissa for music and playing on the field on Friday!
Have a great weekend! Ms. Chelsea
