| Sample Newsletter ![]() Parents: What a week we have had!! We started off with the PreK and 3 year old performances, which were wonderful, and ended with an ice storm. I would like to thank all of the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to come and see the program. It is so encouraging to the children and their teachers to have such a wonderful audience. Check out the Lobby!! Thanks so much to everyone who has brought in items for the family we are going to help during the holidays. We are going to also be preparing a holiday dinner for the family, which the children will help prepare. If you have a favorite recipe, please bring it in so that we will know what to purchase and can make this a very special holiday for this family. I already have purchased a large turkey, so if you can bring in veggies and any other canned food it would be greatly appreciated. What your children say: This week Marissa and Chloe arrived in the morning and Marissa engaged me in a conversation about the fact that her little sister Chloe did not have any necklaces, and that she was lending her one to wear to school that day. I said that perhaps Santa would bring little Chloe a necklace for Christmas, as he checks his list to see who is nice and I know that Chloe is very nice. Marissa thought for a minute and said, “Well, I guess she has been sorta nice!” That reply kept myself and the other teachers smiling all day! Here comes the parade! The turnout for the Fireman’s Parade was unbelievable! We had around 30 children and their parents marching down the main street of Crozet singing and handing out candy canes to the folks who came to watch. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. I am happy (and surprised) to say that we won "Best Appearing Christmas Theme" in the parade. It took us so long to walk the route, I thought we might have won "The longest to arrive at the end of the parade award"! Next time we will use a flat bed to transport our little ones down the parade route! They did a wonderful job keeping up, as did the parents. For a while we were singing "Jingle Bells" in a round without even trying, as half of us were singing at one speed and half another. It really was a fun afternoon. Discovery Toys: Ms. Karen has become a Discovery Toy educational consultant in our area. This will allow us to have even greater deals on Discovery Toys in the future, as our margin of profit will increase with Ms. Karen giving her discount to the school. If you are interested in hosting a party let her know. Classroom News: Kangaroo Class: The Kangaroos have been busy this week making gifts for their parents! In spite of the fact that they are very small, Ms. Sue, Ms. Sandi and Ms. Nikki keep them busy with very special ways to celebrate the season. They are especially enjoying the songs and fingerplays that their teachers sing to them each day, and when all of the babies seem to be having a bad day, Ms. Sue will get up and dance and sing and wave her arms and everyone begins to smile! Peacock Class: This week the Peacocks are going craft crazy! We are making a number of holiday decorations and winter crafts. Be on the lookout for gingerbread men and snowmen alike. The color of the week is green, so we will be looking for that color in our books and on our wall and on our clothes. Our animal of the week is pig. We will be finding pigs in our picture books, and practicing our "oinks!" What Fun! Giraffe Class: This week the Giraffe class was busy making holiday decorations and discovering some fun holiday songs. The children love book time and especially love to sing about the "five little monkeys." Most of the children are becoming very verbal, and opinionated and after finishing one chorus of a song, exclaim "again!" Pelican Class: This week the Pelican class we are working like busy little elves making holiday decorations and gifts. The children are especially enjoying stories about the season, and are talking a lot about what the different meanings of the season are. The letter of the week is C, so the idea of Christmas is being discussed as well as what words start with C. The Pelican class really enjoys circle time, as well as songs, dancing, and playing in centers. The class bid a sad farewell to Ella Tomko, who has moved to another town. She had been with us and many of her classmates since she was 6 weeks old! Octopus Class: This week the Octopus class worked on the letter C. We talked about what words start with the letter C and the different sounds that the letter can make. For art we made a moveable Santa, a moveable reindeer, and a Christmas tree, and Santa puppet. We performed with the PreK class on Monday and sang four songs. We also had a dance class on Monday. On Friday we will have our show and tell, with a holiday theme. We also made soap gel on Friday for a bit of science and fun. Rooster Class: The Rooster class reached two very important goals this week, their presents for their parents and their holiday program! Thanks to all of those who came. The children worked so hard and were very excited to sing for everyone. We also had dance class this week where we made shapes with ropes and our bodies. We worked on the letter C this week, and practiced writing upper and lower case C, listing words that start with C and making C art. We had three big cooking projects, but we are not going to tell what they were... next week you will find out as well as getting to taste them! YUMMM!!! Holidays are fun!! YOU HAVE BEEN SPOTTED!! If we spot your car with our Bright Beginnings magnet, we'll take down your license plate and list the number at our locations. If you see your license plate number posted, let the director know. You will receive a prize! Christmas and New Year Closings: We are a private school, and do not typically close with the public school calendar. When the yearly tuition is figured we take into account the days we will be closed for holidays. We remain open during most of the days that public schools are closed except for the major national holidays, and are more than happy to have your older children drop in on days that public schools are closed. We also stay open, as much as possible, during winter weather events. Typically we open 3 hours late if the weather is very icy or snowy and remain open till closing. Just see Ms. Karen and she will give you a drop in form to fill out if you are interested in using our drop in services.
