The Penguin Class
This week was short and fun! We really enjoyed our Thanksgiving parties. Thanks again for everyone’s help with the feasts! We made our turkeys this week, we fingerpainted, played in a texture tub where we picked different things from around the class to use. We also made turkeys with crushed leaves! We pretended we were jungle animals! We did many other fun activities and projects this week! We read the books, Rumble in the Jungle and Arthur’s Thanksgiving. Enjoy your long weekend!

The Sea Turtle Class
Welcome! This week the Sea Turtles learned about Pilgrims and Native Americans. Thank you parents for contributing to our harvest feat! Everyone really enjoyed it! These couple of days we really got into the holiday spirit and made several different turkeys for art. We also read My First Thanksgiving. We also sorted different kinds of pasta from shells to spiral pasta. Out of the pasta we made necklaces which we really enjoyed making. Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving! See you on Monday!

The Starfish Class
Thanks to Mr. Potato Head, the Starfish know their five senses quite well. In perfect syntax for their age group, "Nose smell, eyes see, mouth eat (a favorite), ears hear and hands touch." We have had great fun exploring different textures, sounds, colors and scents. The recent Thanksgiving feasts allowed us to explore new tastes (as did counting jellybeans each week this month!). Ms. Victoria also brought in two new tastes for the children to try and both the mango and nutella were a hit. This week, we completed pages "P", "T" and "R" for our alphabet book. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we made handprint turkeys that are adorable and on display inside the classroom. Counting and shape and color recognition were made fun this week with a counting bear and shape/color matching game. We wish each family a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving. I, personally, will miss your children over my own vacation as they are each absolutely exquisite and a pleasure to watch grow and develop a bit more every day. This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for each of my little Starfish and the gracious opportunity it has been to be a part of their days.

The Seal Class
Hello again from the Seals. This week was a short but fun week. Thank you to all the parents for bringing in the supplies for the Stone soup and the fruit salad. The children found the Stone Soup interesting. Seals keep practicing using your manners and using the Potty. Seals you are getting better and better at doing both of these. This week we worked on storing pasta, following directions, colors, abc’s, jungle animals, and learning the Wise Old Owl rhyme. We sorted the pasta into shapes. To practice following directions we played follow the leader. We learned about what animals live in the jungle. To review our colors I quizzed the children on colors of objects in the room. I used abc cards to review their letters. For gross motor we played follow the leader and pretended we were animals. We also pretended we were rowing a boat down a river. One day we pretended we were crawling through a jungle after we had rowed down the river. To also help them with gross motor we danced to music. To help the children with fine motor we colored, glued feathers and leaves on to paper, and threaded beads on pipe cleaners. We made turkeys from their hand traced on paper and glued feathers on it. They threaded beads on pipe cleaners to made bracelets. Then on another project we used crushed leaves to make turkeys. I hope everyone had fun this week and I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend. Remember Elf is on December four. Signup sheets are in the lobby for that day and the others. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! See everyone next week!

The Dolphin Class
This week the Dolphin class flutter their way through lots of fun Thanksgiving activities! We did everything from pasta sorts to footprint cornucopias to talking about what we are thankful for! We had quite a festive week! Part of what made it so festive were our Thanksgiving feasts. We had so much fun making Stone soup and Fruit salad. Thank you so much for helping to make these feasts possible! In math, we sorted pasta by size and color, made a chart of what makes us thankful and learned about the desert by playing in a sand bucket for Project Green. In art, we made footprint cornucopias, made paper plate turkeys, and made handprint turkeys on plates!
In letter’s time, we read a book and talked about the front and back of the book, had our hunt for the letter K and learned our nursery rhyme for the week, “Rub-A-Dub-Dub.” In Social Studies, we learned about the Mayflower. We also learned about the pilgrims and the Native Americans. In humanities, we learned some words in Spanish, like turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and Thanksgiving. We also made bead necklaces on pipe cleaners! We’ve had a fantastic short week! Have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy the time off!

The Walrus Class
Hello again from the Walrus Class! This week was short but sweet, and the students were able to get a lot done! Sorting objects is always fun for the students because it is an activity that is hands on and everything is visible. We sorted gourds from smallest to largest. Each of the groups sorted them differently. Some of the students focused on the height of the gourds and others focused on the width of the gourds. All of the students were correct on how they sorted them. We then sorted the shells in our room by sorting all of the large shells in one pile, then the medium shells, then lastly, the small shells in a pile of their own. The students also were challenged in sorting a pile of rice, beans, and two different types of pasta. In both of these activities, the children were able to use descriptive words to describe the materials they were sorting. We continued with our sentence strips this week and we ended up doing two strips! For one of our sentences, the students were able to make their own sentences but they had to have a "k" word in it because that was our letter of the week. For our second sentence/phrase, it read, "Happy Thanksgiving." The Walrus students are keeping up with their Spanish, and this week I was able to write the word under their pictures so it would help them remember. Having the children see words written down that they say verbally is very important. It is also important for the children to know what it means to be thankful, especially with the holidays coming up. We had some great discussions about this during circle time. Thank you to everyone who brought in food for our friendship feasts! They went great.
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Ryland
