School Notes and News
Starting next week, every Wednesday, we will have “Sprinkler Day.” Please have your children come to school wearing their bathing suits with a change of clothes and shoes. Also, remember to apply sunscreen in the morning and we will reapply it in the afternoon. There must be a form filled out, that can be found on the side table, across from the front desk. Every Friday we will have “Bike Day.” Bring your child’s bike and helmet to school and the parking lot will be blocked off for them to ride! Make sure their helmets and bikes are labeled. Children will not be able to ride if they do have a helmet. Everyone is super excited for next week and it is a great way to kick off the summer!

Speech Weekly
Toddlers and young 2’s
We began by reading the noisy story “Sam Wants More” while focusing on sign language as well as repetitive phrases. Next we read “Who Says Moo?” and focused on different animal sounds as well as feeling different textures throughout the book. Another “Buddy Bear” book was read to focus on simple “what” questions. The children had to follow along while following 1-step directions as well as answering basic “wh” questions.
Older 2’s
We also read “Becca Bunny” and “Buddy Bear” books. I better have one in hand when I go into the classrooms, the children always ask for them! We focused on simple categories, prepositions, and counting. The children did a great job following along and following directions. We also read a noisy story to focus on several speech sounds.
3’s and 4’s
This week we continued to address phonemic awareness skills. We placed shaving cream all over the table to practice letters; letter sounds and began blending letters to make 3 letter words. We focused on words with the vowel /a/ and /i/. We made words such as “pat”, “sat”, “zip”, “dad’ and many, many more. We sounded out each letter and blended them together to read the simple words. They did a great job! We also played a listening game to address auditory processing skills. We made pretend pizza and had to following multi-step directions.
Have a great weekend.

Hello everyone! This week, we reviewed our colors, animals, ABC’s, some vocabulary, and more. For art, we painted with brushes, made baby chicks by using our thumbprints, painted with feathers, free colored, and colored the letter “U!” The children have also started on their Father’s Day gifts!
We pretended to bake in the housekeeping center, and had a race with the toy cars in the family living room. In the gross motor room, we pretended to be at the beach, and went sailing in our boat! The weather has been fantastic this week, so we took the opportunity to do some bird watching and listening!
We have a lot of our older toddlers moving over to the two year old room, so we have a lot of new friends! Please welcome Liam, Delaney, and Andrew! Everyone is doing a great job. I would also like to thank everyone who helped out in my class when I was out recovering from my accident, and to the parents for caring and understanding.
Sprinkler Day will start June 14th, and will continue every Wednesday for the summer. Please bring your child to school in his/her bathing suit or clothes that they will be playing in the water in. They will playing with their shoes on, so please wear some type of water shoe or bring an extra pair that they can then change into. There will also be bike day every Friday.
Parents- please remember to apply sunscreen in the mornings and we will reapply in the afternoon. There is a sunscreen permission form that must be filled out. Thank you, and have a great weekend!

Hello again from the Seals! Thank you to all my parents for being flexible while I was on vacation. This week was a short but great week due to the staff training on Friday June 11. The children were hard at work this week; reviewing, learning, and making their Father’s Day/Special Friend’s gift. We reviewed our numbers, letters, shapes, and opposites. We practiced sorting animals and we talked some more about birds. The children also started their class memory book.
In art we worked on our gifts for a couple of days. The children made toucans out of foam and put feathers on it. We also made a bird house. The children had a lot of fun in art this week.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will see everyone next week! Here is some dates to remember:
June 18 Children’s Night Out.
July 5 we will be CLOSED due to the holiday weekend.
Starfish
This week in the Starfish room, we had an awesome week! We started off reviewing our colors, numbers, and shapes. We made so many neat art projects this week. Our favorites were our girds, shading the leaves, and painting with leaves. We went bird watching and listening outside and we flew around like them! We talked about where birds live, different types of birds, and what they eat. We also have been working on our Father’s Day gifts! I hope everyone has a wonderful week and we will see you on Monday!

Dolphin
This week, the Dolphin class talked about birds! We made a wonderful class memory book of our favorite things we do at school. We have started working on our Father’s Day gifts and they are looking great! The children also had the opportunity to make a bird house! In math/science, we sorted animals by likeness and differences, and learned about the endangered species, the grey fox. This was a very exciting animal to us. In social studies this week, we learned about Iceland. We found out that it is in Europe, that it is an island, it has lots of volcanoes, and we also discussed their clothing, and some of their native foods.
In letter’s this week, we did the letter “Y,” and we wrote in our journals and on the easel! During book time, we discussed characters in a story. We also had a great time with Ms. Melissa for our last music class!
Ms. Missy & Ms. Michelle
Walrus
This week was a very special week for the Walrus group because it was a short week and it was Graduation week! The children did a wonderful job with their songs and speaking part. We had so much fun visiting with our families and friends, and eating cake and ice cream! Thank you to everyone who was able to come and celebrate with us!
The children continued working on their Father’s Day gifts. We made another bar graph about our favorite birds, and they started to really grasp the fact that the bars that were drawn represented them (the people voting). The students came up with a great list of birds to choose from. We had a new letter this week and it was “y.” The students were able to think of many words that began with the letter “y,” like: yellow, yawn, yes, you, yard, and yesterday! We were able to write a few of these in our journals. We continued with complex patterns using colors, and they had to write the color that came next in the pattern. The children are so excited for Bike and Water Day next week! We have a new friend joining us on Monday and his name is Ethan! Next week is going to be great!
