Mission

The mission of the advisory group is to assist the administration, director and faculty at Bright Beginnings in providing a high quality preschool program for the children and their families enrolled at the school.

Goals:
  • Be an ambassador for Bright Beginnings in the greater Charlottesville community as well as within the school community.

  • - Provide positive PR for Bright Beginnings in the local community.

  • Assist the school in increasing enrollment:

  • - Distribute flyers and post cards to friends and co-workers.
    - Connect us with any businesses that may want corporate rates.
    - Connect us with any neighborhood or business groups that may allow us to write or advertise in their newsletters (Western Ridge homeowners, etc.)

  • Connect us with local elementary school so we can advertise in yearbook, school directory or attend auctions, Fun Fairs etc.
    - (Crozet, Henley, Western or Brownsville, Greene County Primary, etc.)

  • Hold quarterly family social or educational event to facilitate a strong school community:

  • - Italian night/dinner (spaghetti, lasagna, salad, bread)
    - Full Moon Night (flashlight tag, pajamas)
    - Sponsor seminars: College savings, Doctor or Child Psychologist, Potty Training
    - Homemade ice cream social
    - Fall picnic/ Halloween Pumpkin decorating
    - Family traditions (holidays)
    - Swim party or family event at a park
    - Potluck dinners

  • Assist director and staff in implementing the annual workdays to improve classrooms and playground:

  • - Children's Garden
    - Birdhouses
    - Meadow
    - Playground equipment
    - Nature trail
    - Painting
    - Sewing curtains

  • Locate computers and software and assemble computer lab for use in 3 and 4-year-old rooms


  • Book orders

  • - compile and send off monthly book orders so families can get great quality inexpensive children's literature and the school gets free books for classrooms and libraries!

  • Fundraisers

  • - organize a fundraiser to purchase equipment such as family fun runs or a family yard sale

  • Annual giving committee:

  • - Organize a fund drive to solicit donations from all families annually with a $10,000 goal for year one.

  • Faculty Appreciation:

  • - Organize goodies and treats for faculty about 4-5 times a year.

  • Interview and make hiring recommendations


  • Compile parent volunteer sheets and coordinate volunteers.
