How do we turn pages in a book?

Make a “density” bottle- use shampoo with a marble inside so children can turn bottle around and watch marble. SUPER GLUE ON BOTTLE TOP.

Nature walk- pick up leaves and make leaf collage

Tape record teacher reading story and replay. Children help turn pages of book

Yarn play- roll, feel, tie, and cut

Crumbled/torn picture collages for fall- red apples or orange pumpkins

November:

Week 1:

Simple games- “follow the leader”

-Body parts- “touch your... (nose). Facial body parts.

-Sensory: smelling bottles... “Mmmm, that smells good!”

-art- shaving cream art (on table)

-Moving Day- Get Hammer mill boxes and allow the children to pack up to move

-Cars- making a road and going to grandmas

Week 3:

-Blanket pull- put stuffed animal on blanket, let child grab on corner and pull animal all around the room

-Rainbow dough- give children 3 different colors of dough- let them mix

- Sound bottles- put sand, noodles, paper clips, rocks, rice, etc.

-Picnic- pack a easy snack and have a picnic on a blanket- maybe even outside

-Building a house- in the woodworking section

Week 4:

-Row, Row, Row your boat- turning the stairs upside down.

-  Crawling- pretending you are a jungle animal- “What animal are you...?”

-Texture tubs- allow children to touch different textures- smooth, hard, soft, rough- sand, rice, water, etc.

-Crushed leaves turkey- allow children to crush leaves, cut out brown turkey shape and glue leaves onto turkey

-Blanket Fort- take a blanket of sheet and make a fort, put pillows, camping

-  Cleaning the dishes- wash them with a damp rag

December:

Week 1:

-Step through the rope ladder, in each hole

-Frog hop- act like a frog- Ribbit!

-Kicking a ball to other people

-Cookie-cutter prints: dip cutters into paint and make prints

- sensory bottles- “what is that smell?”

Family role playing- mother, father, children, grandparents, pets

Children’s rhyme:

“Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Turn Around”

Week 2

-Guessing Game: Guess what’s under the blanket

-Jump in the water- Have a blue blanket on the floor and jump into the water!

-Holiday cookies- cut out a round circle and allow children to glue sprinkles and glitter to the paper

-Put cotton balls on the table and practice blowing them around making a SNOW STORM!

-Baby Play- Have children pick a baby and play mommy or daddy

-make a road with small blocks and pretend to drive toy cars to work

Week 3:

-Kick the ball

-Bounce and count how many times a ball bounces.

-body rolling- rolling around

-Cotton ball art- put white paint on a plate and allow children to dip cotton ball into paint and paint picture

- put a bunch of foam snowflakes in a container of noodles, pick the snowflakes out of the container

-Playing with pots and pans- grab them from kitchen and pretend to play

-Playing with puppets- pretending to go to school

Week 4:

-Hold hands up and act like a tree... tall or short

-Dinosaur feet- stomp like a dinosaur

-Dance to music and stop when it stops, go when it plays

-Water play- measuring cups and play

-Building with cardboard blocks

-Crumbling and tossing- crumble scrap paper and toss into a clothes basket

-Unwrapping presents- have boxes wrapped and let them unwrap them.

-Baking cookies- Have pans, bowls, mixing spoons, etc and have children pretend to make a cake
